Only 5 days to go until the ESWC 2008 Finals kick-off and made in Brazil are the next team to tell us their thoughts and hopes prior to the event.
mibr have a history with the ESWC, defeating fnatic to win the 2006 Finals. Last year they managed to get to the semi-finals only losing out to NoA. However, the Brazilians are back in form after having won GameGune 2008 and they will no doubt be serious contenders for the ESWC finals.
HLTV.org spoke with Bruno "bit" Lima and here are his thoughts:
The ESWC finals are here, one of the most glamorous events of the year to win. How have you prepared for the event?
Unfortunately we will not bootcamp at Inferno-Online before this tournament. We've problems to practice here in Brazil due btt and ton got some problems with computer, so we will try to begin it as soon as possible.
Who would you most like to play in the tournament and why?
I would like to play against mTw they are playing very well and are one of the favorite to win this tournament, also fnatic and SK who are very strong teams too.
Fresh from a victory at GameGune 2008, how confident do you feel for the ESWC Grand Finals?
To be honest, I don't know what to expect from our team at this tournament, as I said before we will not bootcamp at Inferno-Online before the tournament so we will not practice with good teams, which is very important for any team to know how they are. This is the best tournament in the world with all good teams; we will have to be perfect to win this one.
The Brazilian CGS players, former mibr, spend their off-season with Counter-Strike 1.6. Is there a big gap between the two games and what do you think of the franchise using Counter-Strike Source instead of 1.6?
That's bad I think. It would be more excited if they use 1.6 instead of Source. I don’t like too much about how the team works, but CGS is an amazing tournament, they have an unbelievable prize and the way they work is fantastic. I can't image how good it would be if they use 1.6 with all top teams playing.
With little competition in Brazil, how does the team practice and prepare for an event like this?
We will just try to practice as much as we can online here in Brazil and some days on LAN if we find some team to play against, nothing special.
mibr's teamwork seems to be better than that of rival teams and you all seem to be better friends. How have you managed this?
We are all good friends out game, so we understand that everyone is trying to do the best for mibr in general. But it's has not always been like this, there's a big rivalry when we played against each other in the past for example, can't image how it was when we were playing a match mibr against g3x, just amazing.
Who do you think will finish in the top 3 and do you think this year's Grand Finals will be a close tournament?
For sure there are many great teams that have good chance to win. That's why I have no idea about the top3; I could say more than 10 teams that are able to be on the top.
